Understanding associations between Indicators on J+ Track - relationships between variables and events

What is an indicator?

In J+ Track, an indicator is a generic name for any event or variable that can be added to a tracking.

Because associations can be added to both events and variables, these are referred to interchangeably as indicators in the platform and in tracking plan exports.

Associations in J+ Track are formal links between different indicators. For example, the event ‘page_view’ might be associated with the variables ‘page_title’ and ‘author_name’.


Viewing Associations

When an indicator is selected in the build pane, existing associations are automatically show on the right hand side of the screen. In the following example, the event ‘add_to_cart’ has been selected, and associated variables are displayed:

Likewise, if a variable is selected, all associated events are displayed:

The ‘Association’ column in each list displays the number of corresponding events or variables presently associated with each indicator.


Editing an Association

Associations can be added and removed directly from the build screen by using the remove and create icons at the top right of the Associated pane:

Associations can also be added and removed directly from the indicator interface. Click in to edit an individual indicator to view and adjust the listed of associations:
